At Epidemic Sound we are reinventing the music industry. Our carefully curated catalog, with over 35,000 tracks, is tailored for storytellers, streaming services, and in-store soundtracks. Countless clients around the world, from broadcasters, production companies, DSPs, and YouTubers rely on our tracks to help them tell their stories. Epidemic Sound's music is heard in hundreds of millions of online videos daily, across millions of playlist streams, and in thousands of in-store locations. Headquartered in Stockholm, we're spread across offices in New York City, Los Angeles, Seoul, Hamburg, and Amsterdam. We're growing fast, have lots of fun, and are taking the music industry with us.

We are now looking for an experienced Data Scientist. Actually. You can call yourself Data Analyst, Data Guru, Analytics Enthusiast or Easter Bunny if you like, the thing is: we have data and you are good at data.

How you will make an impact

Starting off as a parental leave backfill in the Music Analytics team for 9 months starting January 2023, you will support a variety of product teams and business stakeholders across the Music domain together with other Data Scientists in the team. Following the parental leave backfill period, you will have the opportunity to stay on as a Product Data Scientist in one of Epidemic's other domains, such as Core, Growth or Partnerships.

Within the Music domain, you will work directly with metadata and performance KPIs connected to our music. You strive to answer key questions about our core asset and how we should grow our catalog of music. Your purview also overlaps with those observing how users interact with our music. Summarized, your work facilitates our growth as a business, our roster of Artists & Music Creators' growth as individuals, and our product's ability to attract & retain users via music.

You are comfortable working with data modeling, predictive modeling, exploratory analyses and driving your own research questions, aligned with the business strategy and growth opportunities. In this role, you will play a key role in strengthening the analytical capabilities of the team. You will collaborate with Analysts embedded in various teams/departments and make sure we have a holistic view of our business areas. Furthermore, you drive improvements in how we work with data, the tools we use, and how we can improve our data assets to maximize productivity.

Who you are

You are skilled in data analysis, visualization, communication, and parsing commercial opportunities from vast amounts of data using SQL, R, Python, pencils, recycled paper, and whiteboards. We also believe you have a passion for data, tech and music, you love an entrepreneurial start-up vibe, and that you are strong in quantitative analysis, statistics, or mathematics. You are a fast learner with a collaborative disposition and have the ability to extract insights to add real value to the business. You should have experience working closely with cross-functional product teams, and sharing insights from data to drive business impact.

Other skills we think you have:

• 3+ years of working experience in a similar Data Scientist role and a degree in science, computer science, statistics, economics, mathematics, or similar quantitative discipline

• Fluency in Python/R and SQL for data analysis

• Experience performing analysis with large datasets

• Good understanding of cloud technologies. We use GCP

• Ability to demonstrate hands-on experience with data mining, clustering, segmentation, and machine learning

• Experience with experimentation and a/b testing

• Good understanding of data engineering practices and data modeling. We use dbt.

• Fluency in English

• Merit to those with experience in content acquisition analytics

• Merit to those with significant experience from a growing product-focused company

• Merit to those with a strong understanding of music theory, music production, or music information retrieval
