Product Buyer Powertrain Transmission

Ensuring the supply of materials and services - to the right cost, quality and technology - is essential for the success of Volvo Cars. As PRODUCT BUYER you will be a part of Powertrain Transmission Purchasing, Direct Material (DM) Purchasing. DM Purchasing is responsible for sourcing of components & systems for all Volvo cars manufacturing plants world wide as well as service parts. DM Purchasing has two main offices, Gothenburg, Sweden and Shanghai, China. Powertrain Transmission Purchasing with two teams consists of six people and a group manager. Area of responsibility is e.g. 4WD systems, drive shafts, propeller shafts and gear shifters. There are two categories of buyers in the team, Commodity Buyer and Product Buyer, the Commodity Buyer has the more strategic responsibility.
In your role as Product Buyer you will be responsible for transmission systems (e.g. 4WD-systems, drive shafts and propeller shafts). You will act in close cooperation with a Commodity Buyer and a Product Buyer responsible for similar components. The position is located in Gothenburg. There will be travels to suppliers from time to time. We work in a global organization where a few members of the team are located in Shanghai. We are working in close daily cooperation with international suppliers.
Job profile:
• Negotiations with suppliers regarding piece price, tooling cost, development cost, general purchasing conditions and signing agreements
• Conduct supplier evaluation and supplier selection to establish, maintain and develop a competitive supplier base according to our strategies
• Cooperate in cross functional teams with e.g. our R&D organisation, manufacturing organisation and suppliers
• Commercial responsibility towards the supply base
• Maintain the components in the project phase and during running production, e.g. issue orders, report performance, update prices and resolve supplier related issues
Your profile:
• Technical orBusinessUniversitydegree or equivalent
• Experience from purchasing of technical products is an advantage
• Technical knowledge/experience is an advantage
• Technical interest
• Good knowledge in Microsoft Excel
• Drive to achieve personal and company objectives
• Eagerness to learn and develop
• Excellent communication skills
• Presenting skills e.g. present a business case in a structured way
• Excellent knowledge of English (spoken and written)
• Good knowledge of Swedish is an advantage
