The Exterior Purchasing function is responsible for all purchasing activities within the area of wheel housing, under body panel, engine under shield, absorber, insulation fender, label and foam. This includes managing the supplier base, support our manufacturing plants, price negotiations and timing for new vehicle programs. We also support Research & Development in cost efficiency initiatives and contribute to commodity strategies. The group is responsible to develop the supply base and commodity strategy as well as negotiate pricing with the objective to optimie cost.
Your role as Product Buyer involves managing sourced suppliers. You will support the everyday production and hold responsibility for the relation towards the supplier base. You will work closely with the Research & Development, Manufacturing and the Quality functions within Volvo Cars involving our production sites in Torslanda, Gent and China.
Main responsibilities
• Act as main contact for commercial issues towards the suppliers base for running production
• Negotiate commercial and time consequences at suppliers connected to design changes in vehicle projects and establish agreements
• Lead price negotiations, during program phase as well as running production changes
• Participate in cross functional teams within Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing
• Lead continuous improvement activities within purchasing and suppliers
• Support yearly commercial negotiations with the objective to reduce cost and price for the area
• Administration work involves transactions, updating price files and reporting of performance
• Work toward individual targets
• Interact with surrounding organisations
Required qualifications
• University degree in business, engineering or equivalent work experience
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Drivers licence B
• Commercial work experience within the supply chain management area is meritorious
