At Purchasing, you are part of a global team with the mission to develop and maintain a world-class supplier base. Ensuring the supply of materials and services - at the right cost, quality and technology - is essential for the success of Volvo Car Group. The team Closure systems is a part of the purchasing department Body Exterior. We are responsible for sourcing advanced engineering projects and new car programs as well as to cost optimise running production for all Volvo Car Group's manufacturing plants. We also have responsibility to develop the supply base and commodity strategy, negotiating pricing and write agreements.
We are now looking for a Product Buyer to our team in Gothenburg, since one of our co-workers will be on leave of absence due to studies. In this role you will be responsible for the scope of buy within the areas Latches, Handles and Lock sets. You will work closely with the Commodity Buyer for this scope, and be a part of a team of 8 individuals. Your daily tasks will unclude administrative work such as create and update price files, report progress and result, and transact purchase orders.
This is a temporary position starting end of August 2015 and will last until the beginning of June 2016.
Main responsibilities
• Create and establish action plans on part-specific supplier issues in running business
• Negotiate commercial and time consequences at suppliers connected to design changes in vehicle projects
• Negotiate and establish agreements
• Participate in cross functional teams with engineering, quality and manufacturing
• Drive continuous improvement activities within purchasing and with suppliers
• Have frequent contact with suppliers and run the day-to-day business
• Support development of supplier strategies and commodity business plans
• Perform yearly commercial negotiations with the objective to reduce cost and price for the area
• Support raw material negations for the area as well as supplier selections
• Work toward individual targets
Required qualifications
• University degree or equivalent, Economics or Engineering preferred
• Good computer skills (MS Office)
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Experience in Purchasing
