Role Purpose and contribution
In 2011, the total Borealis Capex spend including Turnarounds (TA) will be around 300 MEUR. Borealis has a growth strategy in Europe, and we can expect to see high investment values also in the coming years.
As guardians of a professional process in putting this money out on the market, Technical Procurement has an important role to play. Not only do we safeguard compliance to our company policies and processes, more over we aim to ensure to get the best possible deal out of the market, related to price, quality, lead time, safety and risk mitigation.
Our capex spend is spread over an enormous variety and amounts of projects, and in order to ensure this objective on each and every project and TA, Technical Procurement operates with a network of Procurement Coordinators.
It is the Procurement Coordinator who operates as the crucial link between the project and TA teams on the one hand, and the Procurement organization on the other hand. In this respect, his/her objective is to merge project objectives with procurement objectives, and to manage the procurement process accordingly. He/she will start by setting up the project procurement strategy, and will later on be accountable to as well project as procurement organizations for its implementation. For this purpose, he/she will manage a virtual team consisting of Engineering contractor?s staff and Borealis lead buyers. The Procurement Coordinator becomes in this respect also the facilitator for the implementation of the Borealis commodity strategies of the Lead Buyers.
Knowledge, skills and experience
Master degree or equivalent in engineering, economics or business
Fluent verbal and written command of English (at business level)
Minimum 3 years of working experience in a Procurement environment or equivalent
High degree of computer literacy
Strong commercial skills
Good communication skills
Capability to negotiate complex contracts and to understand the risks related to their implementation

The ideal candidate is very comercially focussed and is an excellent team player. He/she has been demonstrating leadership capability in a multicultural environment and preferentially has knowledge of Capex projects and Turnarounds in our industry.
