The role of process engineer is varied and stimulating. You are working with the whole process line - from idea to production - cooperating with multiple departments and stakeholders. No day is the other alike and that is especially true since we at Outokumpu continuously strive to improve not only our products and processes, but also the career paths and the professional satisfaction of our employees. In this role, you will take a central part in one of our process groups - leading development projects for the world-leader in sustainable steel.
About the role
We are looking for one engineer for our Technical Department - Meltshop who will focus on developing processes related to melting, refining, casting, and grinding of raw materials and metals. The second engineer will be working in our Technical Department - Cold Rolling Mill and will develop how we perform cold rolling, annealing, pickling, and finishing of our steel products.
There are individual differences in tasks, team, and goals, between the departments but the common responsibilities include:
Be responsible for group process methods related to reducing costs and time waste, improving efficiency and quality of Outokumpu products and processes
Support process groups in developing and following up KPIs
Analyze data and observations to assemble and present improvements to management
Be a process expert and lead product line projects within Avesta Works
Lead the implementation of continuous improvement strategies within given process group
Participate in research on-site and within Outokumpu globally
Report KPIs and deviations from standards as well as training operators in conducting such reports

About you
Master's degree of engineering focused in metallurgy, mechanical, electrical, material, manufacturing, or equivalent
Previous experience working in heavy industries
Good command of technology/standard IT systems is a must
Project management experience and willingness to lead continuous improvement projects
Six Sigma and/or Lean certifications is highly valued
Fluency in Swedish and English (written & verbal) is required. German/ Finnish skills are meriting
