The SKF Group Manufacturing Development Centre in Gothenburgis the central research and development facility for manufacturing processes used in SKF. With 65 employees of various nationalities its role is to reinforce SKF's technical leadership in manufacturing and processing of rolling bearings and related products.
To strengthen our competence in the field of Hard Machining, we are looking for a
Process Specialist - Hard Machining / Grinding
(Process specialist - slipning)

SKF Group MDC (Manufacturing Development Centre) has a responsibility for developing new manufacturing processes and equipment for ultimate use in SKF factories distributed worldwide. Accordingly MDC endeavours to keep informed on all new technology developments and how they can be applied to improve production efficiency, quality and performance of SKF products.
We are seeking a Process Specialist who can contribute to the development within the Hard Machining area, with special focus on Grinding and Superfinishing of hardened steel. The person should be highly motivated to work with the technology development both in an R&D and a factory environment.
Key Tasks
• To initiate, define and execute activities and lead projects dealing with the R&D, manufacture and installation of processes and equipment in the SKF Group.
• To drive Hard Machining issues and to develop a good working cooperation network with key actors within the area.
• Support the MDC team with theoretical knowledge in Grinding and Superfinishing in different machine tool or process development projects.
• To work with universities, research institutes and suppliers to develop new competence for the SKF Group.
• To keep aware of external developments within the area and translate new findings into opportunities for the SKF Group.
Requirements
• University education (MSc or PhD) preferably in machining processes or mechanical engineering
• 3-5 years experience in the industrial application of Hard Machining processes for volume production
• Experience from machining of ceramics is qualifying
• Experience from manufacturing environment and machine tool knowledge is qualifying
• A self-motivated, proactive team worker with good communication skills.
• Experience in leading projects.
• Team leading and facilitation skills.
• Good ability to speak and write in English; a second or third foreign language is an advantage (e.g. German, French, Spanish).
• Willingness to travel and to work abroad on short assignments.
