About the Assignment
This is a key role in a large industrial project where process safety needs to be built into every step of design and delivery. You will take ownership of process safety for your part of the project and make sure safety perspectives are embedded from early engineering decisions through execution and handover to operations.
You will work closely with engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, authorities, and internal stakeholders to turn safety requirements into practical actions. The assignment combines technical depth with a strong need for coordination, structure, and clear decision-making. As the project moves closer to operational readiness, you will also help prepare the transition of safety work from project delivery to the operational team. It is an exciting opportunity to influence a complex steel industry environment where your expertise will have visible impact on design quality, compliance, and long-term safe operations.
Job DescriptionYou will lead and take accountability for process safety across the project scope.
You will drive HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, and other risk assessments, and make sure outcomes are followed through in the project.
You will review and challenge engineering design from a process safety perspective.
You will define how Swedish and European safety requirements should be applied in the project.
You will work directly with authorities and internal stakeholders on safety and permitting matters.
You will build structure for follow-up, risk tracking, and compliance.
You will act as the go-to expert for process safety, both in technical matters and in how the work is carried out across the project.
You will support the organization in preparing the handover of safety-related work to the operational team.
RequirementsLong experience from the steel industry or similar heavy industry.
Solid understanding of Swedish safety legislation and how it is applied in projects.
Several years of hands-on experience in process safety work in industrial projects or operations.
Experience leading or facilitating HAZOP, risk assessments, or similar activities.
Ability to challenge technical solutions and make clear, grounded decisions.
Ability to work across teams and create alignment around safety requirements.
You are comfortable taking responsibility for safety decisions while working closely with others to make them happen.
