12 manufacturing sites in Sweden, Norway, USA and Mexico.

Arbetsuppgifter
We are looking for a Machining process engineer to provide technical product support connected to
conventional and non-conventional machining to engineering organization at GKN Aerospace Engine
Systems in Trollhättan, Sweden.

Engineering serves all our different market segments as required throughout the product lifecycle.
Products within our responsibility range from complete engine systems like the RM12 engine for the
Gripen Fighter, stationary gas turbines, space nozzles and turbines for the Ariane Group and
structural components for our commercial partners (RR, GE & P&W).

Overall, the department competence focuses on special processes and consists of the following:
forging, casting, sheet metal forming, thermal spray coating, chemical processes, machining and
additive manufacturing. Together we are a total of 17 process engineers.

You will join a team of experienced material and process engineers with wide and deep knowledge
on product development, implementation, and also control and optimization of manufacturing
processes in the aerospace industry. A team where co-operation, respect, inclusion and sharing are
important culture principals.

You will work together with an experienced manufacturing process engineer and be involved in
laboratory errands, with focus on jobs to evaluate, understand and report how machining processes
affect the surface integrity of parts. You will be able to share your ideas and questions and have the
opportunity to challenge yourself every day. In this environment, you will work daily to ensure
quality, delivery and more long-term to carry out planned improvement assignments to keep
developing our conventional and non-conventional machining processes.

• Support design engineering teams and suppliers with knowledge and expertise in machining.
• Evaluate proposed machining processes on concepts, preliminary and/or final designs.
• Support the development work on process control and standardization.
• Review and analyze data from GKN internal processes and processes at suppliers
• Support the manufacturing organization by problem solving and answering questions
• Perform process simulations / tests / support during manufacturing of hardware

Profil
• Bachelor 's Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Metallurgy, Material and Processes,
Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience from industry connected to non-conventional machining, for instance Laser
machining, EDM, water-jet machining.
• Experience with material such as Titanium and Nickel-based alloys
• Experience or knowledge of zero-defect manufacturing, APQP and PPAP standards including
PFMEA, Process Control Plans, and Process Capability
• Problem solving, troubleshooting
• Good communication skills and ability to establish good relations
• Proficient in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing
• Ability to work independently and in multi-disciplinary teams
