You will work with wide aspects of forging technology. Participate in various product development projects as well as manufacturing, purchasing and quality support including trouble shooting and process development.
You will lead concurrent work between Volvo Aero and different forge houses mainly with the focus on nickel and titanium alloys.
The work also include:
Review of drawings and internal and external specifications
Participate as method specialist during process audits at forge houses
Teach internally about forging
Survey the forging market regarding supplier capabilities and other trends in the forging and raw material industry
Participate in cost analyses of different manufacturing alternatives
Outside of Volvo you will interact with universities and industrial partners in research projects and product development
Develop and maintain networks.
Evaluate process modeling results that is used frequently as a tool within the forging industry to achieve tailored and robust processes
To achieve the above you need to have strong interaction within the product development project teams, materials technology, purchasing (both commercially and quality) and forge houses. Obtain feedback from the manufacturing environment to understand the current challenges and future possibilities.
We require solid skills and experience from materials engineering. You have an analytical mind and good communication skills. We also believe that you have the ability to work independently as well as in team in order to meet established goals and improve our daily operations. Knowledge of simulation tools and their connection to the process is a valued merit.
Qualifications:
MSc Master of Science in Materials Science and/or Mechanical Engineering
Solid understanding of materials engineering and metals working
Industrial experience of manufacturing, product development and/or research environment
Positive attitude, excellent in co-operation and networking with high social skills
Ability to lead external partners and network
Ability to work to commitments and deliver accordingly
Commercial integrity in dealing with suppliers is a prerequisite
English, both written and spoken
