We are seeking out a Principal Software Architect in Arcam's Product Development organization.
The Role
In the role of Principal Software Architect, you will Lead the development of software design guidelines and architectural strategies. You also lead development of best practices within software architecture and development.
We also want you to lead us into the future and encourage you to spend some of your time on external monitoring of existing and emerging technologies.
Other tasks:
• Take architectural decisions within defined company strategy.
• Recommend software strategy to management.
• Approve code reviews on architectural changes.
Collaboration with other GE Additive architects is a big part of this role to set the overall Additive software architectural strategy and a place where you can ask for advice and share knowledge.
You will report to Manager Software Development.
Responsibilities
• Assist Product managers and line managers in product development in analyzing business requirements.
• Provide application architectural solutions to meet business requirements.
• Provide architectural support for software development and modification activities.
• Work with team members to develop architectural strategies and guidelines.
• Work with teams to design prototypes to validate application functionality.
• Recommend new technologies to product management and line managers to develop a robust application.
• Review and recommend improvements to existing software architectures.
• Assist in software design, development, integration and implementation activities.
• Analyze and troubleshoot architecture related issues.
• Assist and coach other software architects and other functional areas in product development in their assigned responsibilities when required.
• Provide guidance to teams in all phases of System Design Life Cycle.
• Responsible for development of architecture documents, functional specifications, design documents, and architecture diagrams.
• Keeping up to date with an overview of current and future technology.
• Point of contact against other SW development teams within GE Additive.
Profile
• At least 5 years of software architectural work.
• Broad technical knowledge with background in eg robotics.
• Strong understanding and experience in agile methodologies and continuous integration/delivery experience is desired.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or at least 10 years of software development.
• Great English speaking/writing skills.
• Experience of SAFe or other agile frameworks for larger organizations is a merit.
