The Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKE) is one of the university's largest departments, with operations mainly in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Our aim is to engage in medical and biomedical education and research of high international standing. At undergraduate level the department is responsible for most of the medical programme, the speech and language pathology programme and the medical biology programme.

We are looking for a principal research engineer in experimental psychiatry within the department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine.

Your future work assignments
You will work in a research laboratory at the Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN).

Your work assignments will include:

• Design, acquisition and analyses of data from behavioral and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) experiments within the following research areas; stress, affect regulation and substance abuse disorders
• Establishment of a method for simultaneous collection of fMRI, EEG and facial EMG data
• Supervision of undergraduate and graduate students

Your future workplace
You will work at the Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN).

Your qualifications
The applicant should have a PhD in Medicine, Neuroscience or a closely related field.

We are looking for someone who has a strong research interest in experimental psychiatry, with a special focus on stress, affect regulation, endocannabinoids and substance use disorders. The applicant should have experience in collection and analysis of data using facial EMG, fMRI, and behavioral models of stress and fear conditioning. Experience in script-based task programming and data analysis would be of added benefit. Previous experience in conducting clinical trials would be a particular qualification.

The applicant should demonstrate capability for independent work and flexibility across different disciplines. Strong interpersonal skills are highly valued, since the applicant will be collaborating with other members of the group with different backgrounds, communication styles and level of expertise. The applicant should be familiar with dissemination of scientific research and have a good publication record in journals and attended conferences.

Experience in student supervision is considered a valuable qualification.

Particular emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability.
