The Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKE) is one of the university's largest departments, with operations mainly in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Our aim is to engage in medical and biomedical education and research of high international standing. At undergraduate level the department is responsible for most of the medical programme, the speech and language pathology programme and the medical biology programme.

Your future work assignments
You will work in a research laboratory at Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN).
Your work assignments will include:
• Design, acquisition and analysis of data from microneurography experiments for characterization of skin nerve fibres responsive to different types of touch.
• Human behavioural and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) experiments for the study of pain and affective touch.
• Supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.
Your future workplace
You will work at the Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience. CSAN integrates knowledge and methodology from different areas of basic and clinical neuroscience. CSAN unites research groups in adult psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, neurobiology, clinical neurophysiology and neuroeconomics.
Your qualifications
We are looking for someone who has a PhD in Medicine, Neuroscience or a closely related field. The applicant is expected to have in depth knowledge in the following areas: mechanoreceptors, affective touch and chronic pain disorders. The applicant should have experience in psychophysiological experiments and master the microneurography technique. Experience in research investigating the role of C tactile nerve fibres in affective touch and pain would be a particular merit.
The applicant should demonstrate capability for independent work. Strong interpersonal skills are highly valued. The applicant should be familiar with dissemination of scientific research and have a good publication record in journals and attended conferences.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability.
