The Grade Development Department Rotating is responsible for the development of new cutting tool materials. Our team is part of Product Unit Rotating, and constantly stays up-to-date regarding our customers' needs and requirements - ensuring us to always be one step ahead, to exceed our customers' expectations. We are now looking for a Principal R&D Engineer to one of our core grade areas within Milling and Drilling Grade Development. This position is in Västberga, Stockholm and some traveling is a natural part of your job.
Key performance areas
In this position, you develop our next generation of outstanding cutting tool materials, and with your application knowledge, you are constantly improving our understanding of customer demands. You analyze worn cutting tools and the feedback we get from from our customers, to draw conclusions on how to continually improve our products and translate and simplify complex matters into actions that ensures that the R&D departments are developing appropriate solutions. You are responsible for developing testing strategies for the grade area, based on technical specification of demand. You also act as test leader in laboratory environments, as well as in the field where new products are tested, and you investigate what material characteristics are most important to influence the development of innovative cutting tool materials.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a Masters' degree in a relevant technical field, or equivalent knowledge gained from working experience. You have proven experience from working with material development or product development within the area of cutting tool and metal cutting, or another similar field. You have solid knowledge of, and interest in, materials technology, and a background involving customer interactions, related to capturing customer needs and translating them to valuable input in product development. You are used to participating in product development projects and are expected to actively take lead in improving ways of working and documentation. Experience of developing metal cutting lab testing strategies is beneficial, as is experience of working as a project leader. Since we act in an international environment, your skills in English must be great both verbally and in writing. Swedish is, initially, not a requirement, but long-term, you will be expected to develop your Swedish skills.
