We believe that order and discipline as well as teacher-led instruction are essential to ensure a learning environment in which pupils thrive. Our aim is to provide an education that is grounded in rigorous research, which we use to develop our strategy and policies. Our first school was founded in Norrköping in 2017, followed by a second school in Karlstad in 2018.
In the autumn of 2019, we will start a new school in Trollhättan offering instruction for pupils in grades 4-9 for which we are now looking to recruit a Principal. The school will be located on Lasarettsvägen.
The successful candidate must share our core values and educational vision, as well as be willing and able to take on the challenging task of setting up and building a start-up school in accordance with those values and vision. In addition, you will:
- Have excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, pupils, and parents.
- Be development oriented and have an entrepreneurial spirit. You must be motivated to set up, build, and shape the school from scratch together with other staff, with the goal to make it the best school in the municipality.
- Be performance oriented, as displayed by your desire to work towards goals and objectives.
- Be able to plan and work in a structured manner on a long-term basis.
- Encourage teamwork and cooperation. You enjoy working with others and make new contacts.
- Be able to see the big picture in your work and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the organisation. You should manage and continuously develop the school and must be willing to initiate and effect changes if necessary.
- Be financially responsible and be able to manage and keep budgets.
- Be able to make decisions in agreement with others but also possess the ability to make executive decisions if necessary.
- Have the ability to delegate, follow up, and evaluate. You will have a positive outlook, which is reflected in the way you deal with staff and pupils.
- Have a solid educational background, experience of school leadership, and preferably have completed a headteacher-training course.
- Be fully proficient in English and preferably have international experience.
Job description
- To build and develop the school according to our educational vision, general guidelines, policies, and the Swedish national regulations.
- To ensure that the school operates in accordance with our quality-assurance system and is organised in a way that maximises learning and supports pupil needs.
- To ensure that staff take on an active role in running the school.
- To represent the school externally, both domestically and internationally.
Other information
You will participate in internal strategy conferences and events, which will involve some domestic over-night travelling. You will report to the CEO of Nordic International School, but will also have regular follow-up meetings with other departments within the company.
Terms and conditions
We have a collective agreement and apply "FERIETJÄNST" among teaching staff and "SEMESTERTJÄNST" among support staff.
We will carry out a criminal-record check of all applicants.
The start date is negotiable. However, we would prefer a start date in the period April-August 2019.

Nordic International School is a part of the group Fria Läroverken i Sverige. The group consists of seven upper secondary school, three elementary schools and one special needs school.
