Principal Engineer CAE Plastic and Composite Materials

The CAE Durability Body & Trim is one of the two CAE teams within the department of Durability. The department is responsible for the attributes Strength & Endurance, Corrosion, Retained Newness and Fire Safety. The responsibility includes target setting, CAE, testing in laboratory and on proving ground. The CAE Durability Body & Trim team performs strength, fatigue and temperature load analyses for the design areas Body, Exterior and Interior, mainly in the development phase in new car projects. In parallel with the work in car projects, method development is performed to enhance the CAE capability. The team consists of approximately 20 CAE engineers.

We are looking for an experienced CAE Engineer with a specialization within plastic materials and/or glas fibre reinforced polymers. You will strengthen our sub-team working with CAE analyses of exterior and interior trim components but also support in the dimensioning of semi-structural components of glas fibre composites. You have strong focus on deliverables, you can work independently and you develop your own and the team's skills within the CAE area and in knowledge of plastic materials. The focus is static mechanical loading and temperature loading.

Main responsibilities

• Responsible to drive CAE durability method development for plastic materials
• Responsible to support CAE colleagues with estimations of material parameters
• Participate in the daily work with project analyses and/or method development
• Varying work from component and system analyses to full car simulations
• Close interaction with design engineers, attribute leaders and test engineers

Required qualifications

• MSc in mechanical, civil engineering or similar
• Good knowledge about mechanics and strength of materials corresponding master-level courses
• Good knowledge about polymers and plastics
• Experience of FE simulations of components in plastic and composite materials
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
