The Principal Consultant acts as a lead for consulting assignments of high complexity within the ABB Power Consulting unit. In this role, you'll be part of a renowned global team of power system and energy consultants, in which you will get opportunities to contribute to the development of new consultancy products and services and also participate in the creation of consulting business strategy.
You will be a part of the ABB Power Consulting Sweden, which is an independent and technology agnostic business unit organized under ABB Power Grids. ABB Power Consulting is a world leading consultancy company and one of the few of this size that is solely focused on power system and energy industry. Today, ABB Power Consulting has leading centers in USA, Brazil, EU, India and China and both competence and projects are shared world-wide. Besides working with customer defined projects, ABB Power Consulting has own R&D of new generation of consultancy services for power and energy industry that is financed internally.
As a principal consultant at ABB Power Consulting you will be a part of our drive to support our customers to deal with their Energy Trilemma. Addressing the energy trilemma for clean, secure and affordable energy impacts all the agents of the energy sector (generators, final consumers, distribution and transmission companies, regulators, government, etc.) and will continue to drive changes in our electricity energy systems globally for many decades to come.
Your responsibilities:
In this exciting new consultant role, you will get the opportunity to lead the alignment and development of consultancy products and services to meet customers' needs
Being responsible for driving key business outcomes for the company in relation to power and energy projects and opportunities.
Building and retain long-lasting relationships with existing and new customers, both external and internal, to support profitable growth and ensure ongoing satisfaction.
Coordinate the local customer strategic approach through relevant initiatives (e.g. key account and partner development, set up of alliances).
Working with contract management activities (invoicing and work in progress, etc.) in one's area of work.
Ensuring delivery of assignments as per the agreed contract.
Providing a consultative approach in converting proposals into projects;
Be the subject matter expert in one or several areas, depending in previous experience
Coaching and development of consultants; provide a role model for technical leadership.
Develop relationships with external organizations and represent the organization in communications and conferences pertaining to broad aspects of consulting assignments
You will oversee and deliver major, often challenging assignments and be able to establish contacts at senior levels (e.g. with the Technical Director).
Working with customers at a strategic level and coach them, consult the business on, and propose, consulting solutions to meet and exceed your customers' expectations.
As the Principal Consultant, you support business development in sales activities by negotiating contracts and leading sales activities with multiple local units, in order to win major consulting assignments.
The job includes creating work plans and cost estimates, establishing a risk management strategy for consulting assignments, and ensuring, besides providing technical expertise, also that the right actions are taken to mitigate and control risks.
You will form and lead teams to deliver assignments with a focus on operational execution.

Your background:
The successful candidate has a PhD or Master's degree in electrical engineering, electrical power systems or similar.
Extensive experience and knowledge (minimum 8 years) of the electric power industry, market, systems and equipment's.
A minimum 8 years' consultancy experience.
The ability and experience in providing a consultative solution to key customers;
A strong commercial acumen with proactive approach to problem solving and ability to successfully persuade and influence senior management.
Power systems expertise, equipment knowledge and elaboration of proposals on energy policy and regulation design.
Commercial skills, including pricing and negotiating.
Written and oral fluency Swedish and English.
As a person, you have an analytical mindset and you are independent, self-going, and take your own initiatives to solve problems.
You have a proven experience in creating opportunities in the markets (orders capture).
You have excellent influencing, collaborating and communication skills.
