Principal Analytics Tool Developer



Location- Central Cambridge (UK) or Gothenburg (Sweden)

The Advanced Analytics Centre (AAC) uses a blend of scientific and technical skills (statistics, informatics, computer science, mathematics and tool development) to develop and deliver cutting-edge methods which address critical scientific and business questions in drug development.



Quantitative Solutions (QS) is a centre of excellence within the AAC for high quality delivery of advanced analytics services, tasks and tools. It is a fast paced, collaborative environment where we make a strategic impact.



Role



As a Principal Analytics Tool Developer you will be part of the Quantitative Solutions team providing advanced solutions in support of the drug development portfolio, for example:

• Trial design simulations

• Network meta-analyses

• Data visualisations

• Ad-hoc clinical trial data analysis

• Technical expertise on tool development to staff within QS, AAC & AstraZeneca



You will be responsible for driving the development of new software tools in support of projects across the AAC, providing the business with a range of innovative solutions to a variety of technical questions in drug development.



You will work closely with a small development team responsible for planning, building & maintaining robust, repeatable solutions for frequently occurring analyses. This will include determining project scope, documenting requirements and ensuring the quality of tools provided.



This role reports to the Head of Quantitative Solutions.



Main Duties and Responsibilities



You will be accountable for full life cycle tool development, including stakeholder interactions, requirements analysis, proof of concept, user acceptance testing and project management; ensuring that our tools are developed and validated to AstraZeneca and regulatory standards.



Being the system owner for tools initiated within the AAC, you will be responsible for improving the productivity, scalability and ease of use of existing tools and solutions. Through working with the other AAC skill groups, you will effectively transition tools into the QS portfolio and detail the requirements for their further development.



You will collaborate closely with colleagues in IT and the wider business, to ensure alignment of new and existing tools, with AZ architectural and software standards.



You will demonstrate a high standard of attention to quality, including best practice record keeping, project management, documentation and adherence to standards.



Essential Requirements



o BSc or post graduate qualification in computer science, biostatistics, mathematics, informatics, the physical sciences or related subject

o Strong experience of full life cycle software tool development, programming, modelling, simulation and / or statistical computing

o Understanding of algorithm design, development, optimisation, scalability and application

o Significant experience with R or Python, including development & testing in a rigorous environment.

o Broad understanding of clinical drug development & the pharmaceutical environment
