Purpose of the role
Responsible for systems engineering in the department according to objectives set in agreement with the manager. This applies to new products and accessories, as well as legacy products.
The Principal Acoustic Systems Engineer is responsible for creating system requirements for the sound processor, based on user needs. System architecture and system design for the sound processor is another main responsibility for this role. The work method is to cooperate with other systems engineers who are responsible for adjoining systems and subsystems, e.g. fitting software, implants, firmware and electronics.

Leadership & Teamwork
• Is a principal technical expert and provides technical leadership for a team of engineers within the discipline.
• Communication with external stakeholders, influencing key decision makers to accept proposals and building existing relationships.
• Responsible for developing new contacts & relationships.
Engineering
• Sets technical direction and provides lead in technical architecture in projects with minimal guidance.
• Introduces new technologies & significant product innovation.
• Contributes significant technical and/or process improvements within their discipline.
• Able to contribute to the generation of intellectual property.
• Actively shares knowledge and expertise with other engineers in discipline (irrespective of whether formally accountable for people management).
• Significant coverage of their base discipline and knowledge of adjacent disciplines.
Key Incumbent requirements:
Minimum:
• Engineering Degree or Engineering Certificate
• Technical expert with advanced specialist knowledge within the area (hearing aid systems, electro-acoustics, signal processing) which typically takes 8-10 years to acquire.
• Principal authority in specific field due to specialist technical knowledge at an expert level contributing to business success over the mid-term 1-3 years.
• Able to share competence with colleagues in a non-prestigious way.
• Fluent in English.
• God writing and presentation skills
Special skills for this role:
• MatLab experience.
• Electroacoustics expertise.
• Expert in audio/acoustics signal processing algorithms and architecture
• Electronic HW design knowledge is a merit
