We are now seeking a skilled scientist to join the Preclinical team at Chiesi Global Rare Disease, where you will contribute directly to the delivery of a cutting-edge gene editing project.
About the role
In this role, you will design and execute in vitro cell experiments that generate critical data needed to guide non-clinical in vivo studies and ultimately support an IND submission. You will also assist in the development and qualification of analytical assays to enable both in-house and outsourced regulatory studies.
Key responsibilities include:
• Designing, executing and analysing in vitro cell culture studies
• Conducting proof-of-concept efficacy experiments
• Maintaining and expanding human cell lines
• Developing in-house disease cell models
• Characterizing pharmacokinetic profiles of gene-editing components
• Analysing tissue samples from non-clinical in vivo pharmacodynamic studies
• Developing and managing analytical assays, including rt-qPCR, ddPCR, NGS, residual enzyme activity assays, Western blot and ELISA
• Drafting key study reports for future regulatory submissions
• Leading and managing external Contract Research Organizations (CROs)
• Building capabilities in next generation sequencing and computational analysis of gene editing platforms
Your Profile
We are seeking a Senior Scientist with 3-4 years of combined post-doctoral academic and/or industry experience, with proven expertise in developing in vitro disease models and hands-on experience in establishing and initially qualifying bioanalytical and functional assays. You demonstrate the ability to generate clear and detailed study reports and assay development documentation and have a strong track record of working independently toward defined milestones within a matrixed organization.
Technical Skills and Key Competencies
• PhD in molecular biology, pharmacology or related field
• Extensive knowledge and practical experience in cell culture and cell-based assay development
• Experience in developing and characterizing disease models using CRISPR technology
• Proficient in applying CRISPR-Cas editing systems in vitro
• Solid hands-on molecular biology expertise
• Experience with RT-qPCR or related techniques
• Skilled in developing in vitro assays for kinetic and efficacy studies
We highly value candidates with experience in:
• Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), such as Illumina or equivalent platforms
• Understanding of and/or hands-on experience with computational analysis of NGS data sets
• TIDE analysis for characterization of in vitro disease models
To succeed in this role, you demonstrate strong verbal and written fluency in English.
We are looking for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, works in a results-oriented way and plans their work effectively. You take initiative, collaborate well with others and contribute positively to team dynamics.
