hela Sverige Do you have expertise in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics? Would you like to apply your expertise in a company that is following the science and turn ideas into life changing medicines? Then you might be the one we are looking for!
We are now recruiting a talented individual with expertise in pharmacokinetics-pharmacodynamics (PKPD) to join the DMPK department within the Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM) therapeutic area at AstraZeneca in Gothenburg, Sweden. The position can be at Senior Scientist or Associate Principal Scientist level depending on the experience of the successful candidate.
CVRM is one of the three main therapeutic research areas within Innovative Medicines and Early Development (IMED), AstraZeneca's small molecule biotech unit that deliver candidate drugs into late-stage clinical development. CVRM is based in AstraZeneca's world-class vibrant R&D center, located in Gothenburg, Sweden. CVRM DMPK interacts with other functions in supporting CVMD projects all along the value chain, from target selection all the way to market launch and Life cycle management.
As a Senior PK and PKPD scientist you will provide pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PKPD) input and modelling on a broad range of drug modalities in the cardiovascular, renal and metabolism disease area. The main task will be to deliver translational quantitative/PKPD and drug-drug interaction (DDI) input for a broad range of drug modalities to projects from target identification to life-cycle management. You are anticipated to have a solid PKPD understanding and have hands-on mathematical modelling experience (e.g. empirical PKPD models, in vitro-in vivo translation, non-linear mixed effects models, mechanistic systems pharmacology models). You will have the opportunity to contribute to the discovery of new life changing medicines for patients and demonstrate and witness what science can do.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Define and deliver the translational quantitative/PKPD strategy for efficacy and target safety, in projects from target identification to life-cycle management
* Identify the appropriate mathematical modelling approach (e.g. traditional PKPD modelling, non-linear mixed effects modelling, quantitative systems pharmacology) to deliver quantitative translational project input from target identification to life-cycle management
* Design preclinical PKPD studies, contribute to estimation of safety margins and report results and interpretations to project teams and internal governance bodies
* In collaboration with key functions (e.g. bioscientists, translational scientists, safety scientists, clinical pharmacologists and clinical pharmacometricians) integrate the appropriate data to predict human pharmacokinetics, efficacious drug exposure, human longitudinal response (e.g. biomarker and disease effects), and human dosing regimen
* Be up to date with emerging literature and continuously display scientific progress externally and internally
* Deliver drug-drug interaction (DDI) predictions and risk assessments to project teams
* Key Deliverables: Deliver the PK, DDI and PKPD elements to project teams within the agreed timelines and to the right quality
Essential Requirements
* PhD in pharmacokinetics, pharmacology or related field with a specific focus on mathematical modelling of PKPD data and ideally in a preclinical/translational setting
* Specialist of PK and PKPD data analysis, interpretation, and reporting, including hands-on experience with modelling software (e.g. Phoenix, Matlab, Monolix, R, NONMEM or similar)
* Hands-on experience with PBPK software (e.g. PKsim, SimCyp, Gastroplus)
* Experience in pharmaceutical R&D and experience in operating cross-functionally
* Experience of defining quantitative modelling strategies across several therapeutic modalities (e.g. small molecules, oligonucleotides, proteins, antibodies) is an advantage
