Using hydrogen as a carrier of green electricity to power electric trucks, or renewable fuel engines is one important part of the puzzle, and a complement to battery electric vehicles.
At Powertrain Strategic Development we lead technology strategy and contribute to business strategy for new Powertrain solutions. We are the center of development and expertise of Hydrogen solutions and are acting as the Powertrain Product owner of Hydrogen products within the Volvo Group.
Do you want to join us in this journey? Together we will make Volvo Group the most desired and successful transport solution provider in the world! "
THIS IS US, YOUR NEW COLLEAGUES
Our team, the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) System Group is a multi-disciplinary focused team that includes design, concept architect, combustion system, 1D/3D simulations, EATS, Controls, testing and verification. We are 11 engaged people that thrive on finding the best solutions, working together with other colleagues from different parts of Volvo organization. Our current mission is to develop a transport solution powered by a Hydrogen Engine, as a complement to battery electric, fuel cells and other renewable fuels. We are looking for a new colleague that will work as a Performance Calibration Engineer. Are you the one?
WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER
As a Performance Calibration Engineer you will be in charge of delivering a complete "dataset" for a Hydrogen engine powertrain solution. This role gives you the opportunity to join different test campaigns in several global locations, collaborating with external research partners, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
You will be involved in a dynamic environment, establishing close collaboration with local and global experts from different areas across the organization, and act as a bridge between strategic development and traditional product development.
In this position, you will explore top-notch powertrain calibration strategies to apply in Volvo Products and help on the Customer Success, as well as contribute to the definition of a H2 ICE powertrain concept architecture. You will optimize new software functionalities to match new requirements, new systems, new sensors, and actuators. Here you will interact with the powertrain platform calibration groups to maximize the benefit for the customer, secure software commonality and knowledge reuse.
WHO ARE YOU?
As a Performance Calibration Engineer, you drive results, collaborate, build trust, welcome new learnings, and act with a player mindset (positive "can do" attitude). You can solve practical problems by leveraging on engine and aftertreatment expertise, connecting people, transforming theoretical knowledge into real products and society improvements. If you have a holistic view of ICE system application layer calibration development, you will feel right at home.
Other requirements that would be beneficial for this role are:
M.Sc. Engineering (Mechatronics, Electronics, Applied Physics, Mechanics)
Minimum 2 years of experience in engine or aftertreatment calibration
Experience in combustion engine modelling and optimization
Experience from performance testing campaigns in engine test cell or vehicle calibration
Minimum 3 years of experience with powertrain product development
Knowledge in simulation tools such as Cameo, ASCMO, testing tools such as ATI Vision, INCA and AVL Creta
Knowledge of functional testing using CANAlyser and ATI Vision
Knowledge in combustion analysis tool (AVL Indicom)

Other requirements that could be a merit:
Knowledge in spark ignited engines, knock control, engine sensors and actuators
Knowledge in combustion engines, fuel injection systems and aftertreatment systems
Knowledge in engine and aftertreatment controls development
Imagine yourself working in an environment focused and fully energized to develop H2 solutions for the future transportation. You get an opportunity to work together with highly skilled colleagues in an exciting and global network, which provides opportunities to develop both professionally and personally.
