Powertrain NVH and Sound Quality, Analysis Engineer

The section Powertrain NVH & Sound Quality is part of the NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) competence centre within Research & Development at Volvo Car Group. The NVH Centre has the responsibility to ensure that the attribute Noise and Vibration is supported in the vehicle programmes, both in terms of customer and legal requirements. Within the PT NVH & SQ section we have the responsibility for engine and driveline and their integration in the vehicle, in car and engine programmes as well as for Advanced Engineering (AE). The team works integrated in all project phases, from AE to vehicle/engine production start, and field and quality issues, contributing with analysis and guidelines to improve the NVH attribute in our cars. We work with testing and analysis of engines, transmissions, drivelines and their integration in the complete vehicle where the effect on car occupants is evaluated. PT NVH & SQ works with state-of-the-art equipment, engine and chassis dynamometers. We have extensive communication with other internal design areas, suppliers and our development centre in Shanghai.

As an Analysis Engineer NVH you will be a part of the team to strengthen the deliverables and development of the next generation of engines, drivelines and vehicles. Newly graduated people with an engineering degree and the right personal qualities are welcome to apply.

Main responsibilities

• Perform NVH and belt dynamical testing in engine test cells
• Perform analysis of measured data and propose solutions to issues
• Instrument and prepare engines with transducers
• Participate in the development of improved or new methods and guidelines
• Participate in implementation of solutions in the vehicle/engine/driveline

Required qualifications

• Experience of engine cell testing
• Knowledge of Müller-BBM PAK, test and analysis, and MS Office
• Green belt 6 sigma
• Minimum Engineer or equivalent work experience
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
