hela Sverige The Research and Development (R&D) function within URE needs to strengthen their powertrain groups with new members. We are currently searching for powertrain engineers to join our teams at the departments Drilling and Material Handling at R&D. The products you will work with are market leading within underground drilling, loading and hauling. A change has started in how the machines are built and conventional powertrains will be exchanged with electrification technology. With new challenges arising, new possibilities on how to build the machines and new characteristics we can give the machines to gain better performance, we want you to join us on this journey.

Job description:
As Powertrain Engineer in our R&D function you will be involved in all phases of the design process, from new development, customer orders, product modification and maintenance to testing at the test mine facilities. The work involves system design together with different suppliers, bill of material, testing and documentation.
You will work with the powertrain components such as diesel engines, coolers, transmissions, drive lines, axles, and tires. The work involves matching the different components to a well-balanced system including calculations, testing and documentation. You will mostly, in project format, work with new development projects, product maintenance, base development and customer orders.
Part of the work will be focused on energy efficiency, cost reduction, part reduction and to optimize the powertrain systems for electric/hybrid drives with respect to manufacturability, quality and serviceability.
You will work in close cooperation with other group members and colleagues at R&D and have close contact with other departments in Örebro, for example technical service, purchasing and marketing. Contacts with customers and suppliers around the world is also a part of your work.

Personality requirements
To be enable to enjoy the work you need to be self-sustaining, plan your work per deadlines, and be willing to take responsibility. You have a structured and analytical approach, and like to work with details as well as to get the job done. You enjoy combining theory and practice. This job requires a lot of collaboration both internally and externally, so good interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to do a good job. An enterprising and goal oriented personality is desired, since the work is conducted with a lot of freedom and responsibility. It 's important that you are curious and want to develop and learn more about the powertrain field.
Experience and Education
We considered it meritorious if you have worked with similar tasks, such as drive train installations and have a genuine interest in motors or machines. You preferably have a university degree in mechanical engineering, B.Sc. or M.Sc. but equivalent knowledge is also desirable. Maybe you have technical knowledge from working with construction machines, knowledge in the powertrain field from personal interests or have worked with similar machines and components before in another role. The CAD and PLM systems we use are ProEngineer and Teamcenter, and we consider experience from these systems a merit.
It's also meritorious if you have knowledge about electrification as we now develop powertrain systems for electric/hybrid drives. Educational orientation of vehicle /vessel /combustion technology are also considered a merit together with experience of working with projects or experience of leading projects from start to finish.

Atlas Copco Underground Rock Excavation (URE) has a large program of machines used in tunneling and underground mining operations, for example drill rigs, bolting rigs, concrete spraying equipment, loaders and mine trucks. They are available in various technology levels, from simple to fully autonomous with diesel and/or electric drive trains.
