Today the ÅF Group has more than 10,000 employees, of which more than 1,000 employees work with Electrical Power Systems in the Energy Division, from 0.4 kV to 500 kV, internationally and nationally. Advanced Power Systems & Solutions is a new team part of the Transmission & Distribution within Energy Scandinavia at ÅF. The team will focus on FACTS (Flexible Alternating Current Transmission Systems), HVDC (High-Voltage, Direct Current) transmission system, Integration of Renewables and other Advanced Power System Applications within Scandinavia and Internationally.
FACTS and HVDC play a vital role towards the development of sustainable transmission and distribution systems for now and the future. There is a growing need for advanced FACTS and HVDC systems around the world.
We develop the system requirements for different utility and industry customers' needs and also evaluate contractors and supplier submittals for both tenders and projects. You should be able to develop FACTS or HVDC systems based on those system and functional requirements. We work together with our customers towards delivering sustainable techno-economic solutions on timely manner is a core value for the team.
Who are you?
You are experienced within the power systems analysis field and have MSc or PhD in the field of electrical power systems with at least 3 years hand on experience in this field. You are passionate about working with new and leading technologies and have a good knowledge of FACTS and/or HVDC systems.
You have the knowledge and proven experience in simulation programs and power system tools is a MUST. You must have the knowledge in one or more of the following software programs and tools, PSCAD, PSS/E, DIgSILENT / PowerFactory, EMTP-RV, ETAP, MATLAB, Simulink, RSCAD / RTDS ...etc.
Being able to demonstrate a very good understanding of FACTS & HVDC within one or more of the following areas brings a value to our offering and will be assessed during the application process:
Dynamic Performance Studies
Main Circuit Design, including HV/MV switchgear and equipment
Transients & Insulation Coordination Studies
Harmonic Performance Studies
Converter and Valve Design
System Interaction Studies and Resonance
Control System Specifications and Design
AC & DC Network Integration
Reliability, Availability and Maintainability
Erection, Tests, Inspection, Commissioning and QA specification
To succeed in the role, you need your social and analytical skills, you are expected to be communicative with a powerful self-drive, results oriented and able to work independently in both ÅF premises and also at our customers. This means that you will be given opportunities to travel and commute within Sweden in part but also you can expect to have the opportunity to work with some customers overseas.
We want a colleague that is business oriented and understand the sales and marketing business as part of being a consultant and hence you must be able to develop and drive credible and productive long-term relations with our customers and expand your business network.
Fluent communication in Swedish or English is a must. Good knowledge of other languages is a plus.
