You will be part of FACTS in Västerås. The FACTS technology enables power system owners to increase capacity in the existing power system while the electrical stability improves. As a result, more power reaches the customers at a minimal environmental impact, shorter project lead-time and at lower investment costs. At the FACTS unit in Västerås, we develop and sell this groundbreaking technology to customers on the global market.
The challenge: Are you ready for a job in which you will use your innovative mind and ability to develop conceptual solutions? As Mechanical Designer you will find yourself in a stimulating and international environment where you for most of the time will participate in the development phase of interesting R&D projects. With main focus on calculation, modeling and simulation of electro mechanical components and systems you will be responsible for mechanical design from the idea and concept phase to finished product and prototype. As part of a large and international project team you will work with a range of physical areas such as electrical high voltage equipment that is cooled using either water or air. With us you will not only get access to a broad global network but also get excellent opportunities to develop either into a specialist function or towards a more generic position e.g. as R&D Project Manager or Technical Manager.
The requirements: You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Machine Technology, Technical Physics or similar. In addition you have several years' experience of working in project, solving problems and are always delivering according to set goals. You are a proficient user of 3D CAD and simulation tools for mechanics, current and similar. As part of global ABB, fluency in spoken and written English is a must whereas skills in Swedish are positive. You are used to work in a multicultural environment, something that has provided you with the ability to think creatively and outside the box. As a person you are an independent team-player who uses your initiative to solve problems at hand.
