At the Department of Economics, research and teaching are conducted in the subjects economics and business studies. The department has master's and bachelor programs in economics, and a PhD program. Priority areas in economics are 1) environment and natural resources and 2) agricultural economics.
Duties:
The environmental economics group,
https://www.slu.se/env-econ - is seeking a post-doctoral researcher to boost the research team. The successful applicant will be expected to develop their own research in the area of environmental and resource economics, and to contribute to an ongoing project - The Swedish bonus-malus policy - focused on the evaluation of the effect of the Swedish bonus-malus scheme on carbon emissions. The project has two parts: (i) an explicit ex-post evaluation of the aggregate effect of the policy on the pattern of sales of less and more polluting cars; and (ii) the development of an econometric model for household vehicle and mileage choice - based on household micro-data - to give a more complete picture of the effects of the policy. The position as a postdoctoral researcher implies at least 80% research.
Qualifications:
Successful applicants must have completed a PhD in economics, or be expecting to complete their PhD by March 2022. Applicants should normally have completed their PhD no more than three years before the application deadline. Candidates must have strong competence in microeconomics and applied microeconometrics, and experience using econometrics packages such as STATA or R. Knowledge and experience in the following three areas are advantageous but not essential: (i) working with register data; (ii) structural econometrics and discrete choice methods with simulation; (iii) environmental economics. The ability to work constructively in a small group is essential.
