Postdoctoral scholar with a focus on adaptation to climate change in the Netherlands
The Department of Social and Economic Geography at Umeå University is an interdisciplinary research environment of around 50 employees. The Department focuses on several areas, including environmental planning (for more information, please go to: http://www8.umu.se/soc_econ_geography/) .
A position is open for a postdoctoral scholar committed to interdisciplinary work, with a focus on political science (1-year postdoc, 100%), available from September 2010 or according to agreement. The position is a full-time position focused on research.
The positions will focus on the adaptation to climate change in governance systems in the Netherlands, with the aim to compare adaptation approaches in the Netherlands with existing work at the department on approaches in other countries and in particular the UK.
Given the political systems-oriented character of the research, applicants are invited who have a PhD in Political Science, Social and Economic Geography or a related field, with a clear and demonstrated relevance for the issue area, and with no more than three years experience prior to the application date. A focus in previous work on interdisciplinary environmental social science and in particular on adaptation to climate change from a political science perspective is a benefit.
Applications for the position should include a short letter describing the applicant’s research interests and relevance for the position, full CV and publications list, and PDF files or hard copies of selected (no more than five) major publications. Please, state the desired date for commencing the position and include names and contact details of two suitable academic referee persons.
