Subject area
The subject area for this position is machine learning for computer vision and/or robotic perception. There are two main research themes: explainability and interpretability for computer vision; and long-term robotic perception and learning. The successful candidate should have a solid theoretical background in machine learning or computer vision. Experience in explainability and interpretability for computer vision, or experience in applying machine learning and computer vision to robotic perception, is relevant but not mandatory.

Background
The researchers are to be based at Örebro University's Center for Applied Autonomous Sensor Systems (AASS, http://www.oru.se/aass), which carries out multi-disciplinary research at the intersection of robotics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer vision, and computer science. The project is part of the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP), Sweden's largest ever individual research program, and a major national initiative for strategic basic research, education and faculty recruitment. The vision of WASP is excellent research and competence in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems and software for the benefit of Swedish industry. For more information about the research and other activities conducted within WASP please visit: http://wasp-sweden.org/.

Duties and responsibilities
The appointment as a postdoctoral researcher is intended to enable persons who have recently been awarded their doctoral degree to consolidate and develop primarily their research skills.

The successful candidate shall be engaged to primarily conduct research by developing, implementing, and testing novel algorithms in computer vision or robotic perception, and publishing these results in high-impact peer-reviewed venues.

There may also be the opportunity to participate in co-supervision of doctoral students.
