hela Sverige The Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM) is a department at Karolinska Institutet and an interdisciplinary research institution within the broad field of environmental medicine. IMM conducts cutting edge research within the areas of environmental and occupational medicine, toxicology, physiology, epidemiology, and biostatistics with the aim to clarify how environmental and lifestyle factors affect our health and which role genes have. IMM also serves as a scientific advisor to public authorities within the area of environmental medicine and IMM scientists participate in national and international expert groups.
Division
The unit of Cardiovascular Epidemiology, Institute of Environmental Medicine, Karolinska Institutet is one of IMM 's larger units and has focus on epidemiologic research on inflammatory diseases such as cardiovascular diseases.
The ongoing research on risk factors for subclinical and clinical cardiovascular disease concerns biological markers including genetic markers as well other factors such as life style factors including dietary habits. Interactions between genes and lifestyle factors in relation to disease development are also evaluated. We are now recruiting a Post Doc who will work with Associate Professor Karin Leander.
Duties
The person we are looking for will conduct epidemiological research in the area of cardiovascular disease with a specific focus on the influence from dietary factors and interactions between diet and genes. The holder of the announced position will also have a role as data analyst in international collaborative efforts and have responsibilities for the organization of seminar series as well as teaching at different levels.
Entry requirements
A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc. The term can be extended under special circumstances.
Qualification
Good knowledge in epidemiology and biostatistics is required. Good knowledge in English is also a requirement.
Other qualifications for this position:
- Experience from statistical analyses using software such as STATA, SAS or R.
- Documented education in nutritional science, cardiovascular epidemiology and experience from epidemiological analyses of nutritional data.
- Documented experience from work on research questions related to the role of fatty acids for health outcomes.
In addition, knowledge in the fields of biochemistry and pharmacology will be regarded an advantage at the evaluation of candidates.
