Volvo Cars and Lund University collaborate in the research project "Simulation and Design of Vehicular Antennas (SDIVA)", which is funded by the VINNOVA FFI program. The project aims to support Volvo Cars' ambition of speeding up the development of new car models. Specifically, the postdoctoral researcher's primary task is to design and evaluate of innovative antennas for future car models, as well as validating that a carefully designed simulation approach can reduce the need for prototyping and real measurements. The focus is on antennas for wireless communications (LTE, 5G, IEEE802.11p). The results from this work are to be published in high-quality journals and conferences.
The researcher will be based at Lund University in Lund during the employment and will be facilitated to visit Volvo Cars in Gothenburg on a regular basis for discussions and close support in various forms (knowledge, materials, facility). The researcher will have full access to the extensive knowledge base at Volvo Cars, including detailed CAD models of concept cars, realistic requirements for futuristic antenna systems and experience of in-house technical experts from relevant fields (e.g., antenna, EMC and structural/industrial design).
Required qualifications
* Doctoral/PhD degree awarded in the field of antenna, preferably antenna for wireless communications
* Knowledge and experience in antenna fabrication, antenna measurement and over-the-air antenna performance evaluation will be considered a plus.
* Fluent in English, written and spoken.
