Division
Division MTC offers an opportunity for postdoctoral research studies in Tumor Biology.

The research of the Arsenian Henriksson group is focused on the childhood cancer neuroblastoma. Today, neuroblastoma ranks as the most common and aggressive solid tumor in infants with 90% of cases diagnosed by age 5. Amplification of the MYCN oncogene is found in approximately 30% of all neuroblastoma cases and is associated with poor prognosis and chemotherapy resistance.
Duties
The group has previously demonstrated that MYCN inhibition leads to metabolic alterations and results in lipid accumulation in neuroblastoma cells (Zirath et al., PNAS 2013). The aim of the current project is to study how MYCN controls the energy metabolism in neuroblastoma using a combination of proteomics, metabolic profiling and gene expression dataset analysis. (Cell Reports 2016 and Dzieran et al., PNAS 2018.)

Entry requirements
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence.

We are looking for a highly motivated, creative, responsible researcher who has the capacity to work independently as well as in a team. A PhD degree awarded in cancer biology with experience in neuroblastoma and metabolism is required. The applicant should have a strong background in molecular cell biology and cancer metabolism. Practical experience of standard cell biology techniques, including advanced real time metabolic functional assays in mammalian cells. Experience of design of in vitro and in vivo studies; analysis of proteomic and genomic data and expert skills in statistical evaluation of data. The successful candidate needs to have experience of design and analysis of in vivo as well as in vitro drug studies. Previous experience in training master students is an advantage.
