We are looking for one postdoctoral researcher with the opportunity to develop his/her own research program. The position is limited to a two-year contract with the possibility of extension, offering you the chance to make a real contribution in a highly collaborative and supportive research environment.
About the position
A unique opportunity! We finance a two year employment and running costs up to 300 000 SEK/year. The successful candidate will have the chance to develop and execute a dream project in a broad One Health context. The candidates will be selected based on academic excellence, how well the project/your research profile fits with ongoing research in our unit and the candidate's long-term ambitions to establish an independent line of research.
Candidates are expected to submit a short research plan outlining how the proposed work will fit into a One Health context. In our unit, research is conducted in the following subjects:
• Bacteriology
• Epizootiology and Disease Control
• Food Safety
• Parasitology
• Pharmacology
• Toxicology
• Virology
The proposed research should fall within at least one of these research subjects. It is highly recommended that the proposals link multiple subjects together, to boost collaboration within the unit.
Your profile
We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is interested in cross-sector and cross-disciplinary collaboration related to One Health research and who enjoys learning new things and sharing their knowledge. The ideal candidate will have experience in any of the following subjects such as: Bacteriology, Epizootiology and Disease Control, Food Safety, Parasitology, Pharmacology, Toxicology, or Virology.
You should have high standards in your work, and have strong organizational skills. The candidate should have a proven ability to complete projects and publish their work. The primary working language is English.
To be eligible a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This admission requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. You should preferably have obtained your doctoral degree within the last three years, but if there are special circumstances this time can be longer. If there are special reasons such as maternal leave etc, your degree may have been obtained earlier.
About us
HBIO is a creative and inspiring environment with a wide-range of expertise and interests. We have a strong research environment with the different areas of One-Health and welcome a post-doc project that connects several of our areas. We have the essential equipment and infrastructure for a post-doc project, including equipment for molecular biology, cell culture, microbiology, safety class II laboratories and Maldi-Tof. In addition, the university has an animal hospital/veterinary clinic and a clinical chemistry laboratory.
Department of Animal Biosciences (HBIO) is part of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences and is responsible for education, research and postgraduate studies in several basic and applied scientific areas. These areas include anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, toxicology, breeding and genetics, immunology, bacteriology, virology, parasitology, epizootology, comparative medicine, food safety and One Health.
