The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics is among the largest departments of epidemiology in Europe with special focus on increasing our knowledge of the aetiology for different diseases. Our department consists of researchers, doctoral students, biostatisticians, data collectors, database administrators and administrative personnel, in total approximately some 250 staff. The department is situated in campus Solna. Further information can be found at ki.se/meb

Division
Our research focuses on epidemiology of aging, using genetic-, molecular-, cognitive- and register-based data among others.

Within the group, we are working in the fields of gerontology and genetics using methods such as genome-wide analyses, Mendelian Randomization, life-course trajectories, gene-environment interactions and twin approaches. Most cohorts used in the research are sub-studies from the Swedish Twin Registry. Currently, besides a Professor and an Associate Professor, the group consists of 3 postdocs, 9 doctoral students, and master students.

Duties
The work for the intended postdoctoral position includes analyzing longitudinal biomarker data and associations with aging and aging-related diseases. Moreover, causal inference studies using genetic data will be undertaken as well as other large-scale data analyses and discordant twin analyses. Examples of available data are genotypes, telomere lengths, DNA methylation, mitochondrial DNA, metabolomics, and proteomics. The candidate should be able to lead and run the projects using these data, write scientific papers and compose individual research applications for funding.

Entry requirements
A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc.

Applicants should have a PhD degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, genetics or equivalent, with experience in molecular epidemiology. Skills of using standard data analysis software packages (e.g., SAS, STATA, or R) are essential. Additional training in Mendelian Randomization and/or life-course approaches is a merit.

Application process
An employment application must contain the following documents in English or Swedish:

• A complete curriculum vitae, including date of the thesis defence, title of the thesis, previous academic positions, academic title, current position, academic distinctions, and committee work
• A complete list of publications
• A summary of current work (no more than one page)
• Verifications for crediting of illness, military service, work for labour unions or student organisations, parental leave or similar circumstances
• Verification from the thesis defence committee or the equivalent (only if the thesis defence is scheduled within three months after the application deadline)
The application is to be submitted through the MyNetwork recruitment system.
