Division
Psychiatry is severely hampered by the lack of objective measures that could assist clinical assessment of patients.
The overarching aim of this research is therefore to identify biomarkers that would complement diagnostic assessment, as well as predict treatment response, adverse effects, and course-of-illness in psychiatric disorders. To reach these ends we use genome-wide and proteome-wide association methods applied on clinical samples in combination with phenotypic data from psychiatric quality registers.
Now we are looking for a NMR-spectroscopy specialist that could combine our genetic and clinical data with metabolomics analysis of serum/plasma and CSF samples collected from patients with psychiatric disorders and healthy controls.
Duties
The post-doctoral fellow should establish research collaboration with a NMR-center, measure the metabolic profile in biological samples from cases and controls with NMR-spectroscopy and analyze data in combination with other biological and clinical data. To be successful the candidate need to collaborate with other members of the research group specializing in subjects such as genetics, statistics or clinical phenotyping.
Entry requirements
A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc.
Minimum qualification:
• PhD in chemistry, biochemistry or chemical engineering.
• Expert knowledge in NMR spectroscopy
• Expert knowledge in metabolomics
• Experience in biomarker identification in blood plasma/serum
• Experience in biomarker identification in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)
• Working knowledge in statistical methods for metabolomics profiling
Desired qualifications
• Experience working with psychiatric disorders
