The School of Medical Sciences at Örebro University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in medical science, [biomedicine with bioinformatics] for a fixed-term appointment.

Background
The postdoctoral position is part of a national project, BIO IBD ( https://www.oru.se/BIO-IBD/), aiming at discovering biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis and therapy response of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The project, BIO IBD, carries out internationally recognised multi-disciplinary research in close partnership with other Swedish Universities, international corporations and with the public sector.

Our aim with this recruitment is to further strengthen the research competence within the field of biomedicine with bioinformatic analyses in IBD projects.

Duties and responsibilities
The appointment as a postdoctoral researcher is intended to enable persons who have recently been awarded their doctoral degree, to consolidate and develop primarily their research skills.

[The position especially relates to the possibility to develop proficiency in analysis, testing and discovery of novel biosignatures associated to different aspects of the disease IBD. The work includes analysing data and applying bioinformatics tools on data from different analytical platforms, such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics, originating from both human and microbial samples. The work will be conducted in collaboration with medical and biomedical researchers and bioinformaticians at both the university and at the university hospital. You will also have the opportunity to participate in teaching activities at the University.

The position will be funded in part by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research, SSF, that supports research in medicine for the purpose of strengthening Sweden 's competitiveness in this field.

The candidate is expected to have a strong research background and international publications within applied biomedicine with analyses within medical bioinformatics. ]

Eligibility
Eligible for the appointment as postdoctoral researcher are applicants holding a doctoral degree in biomedicine, with experience in bioinformatics analyses. The doctoral degree should have been awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline. Candidates who have obtained their doctoral degree prior to that may however also be considered if special grounds exist (leave of absence due to illness, parental leave, clinical duties, an elected position in a trade union, or other similar circumstances).

Assessment criteria
General assessment criteria include good interpersonal skills and an ability to cooperate as well as the ability and suitability otherwise required to perform the duties well. Particular importance shall be attached to the qualities enabling the candidate to contribute to the future development of both research and education. A demonstrated ability and desire to pursue an academic career is also of importance.

The assessment of the candidates is also based on previous research and publication records and the suitability to the topics outlined above, as well as demonstrated analytical and reporting skills. Previous work experience with multi-omic medical data is advantageous. It is not necessary to be familiar with the Swedish language, but proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

Information
The position is a position for a fixed term of two years. The salary depends on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.
