The Department is organized in 10 divisions: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric Surgery, Neuropediatrics, Pediatric Oncology, Neonatology, Reproductive Endocrinology, Neuropsychiatry (KIND), Reproductive and Perinatal Health. The divisions have separate scientific profiles and vary in size and have several research groups, dealing with both basic and clinical science.

Division
Center of Neurodevelopmental Disorders at Karolinska Institutet (KIND).

KIND is a competence center for research, development, and education within the area of developmental psychopathology. The center is established in collaboration between Karolinska Institutet and Stockholm County Council aiming at improving generating high-end basic research, clinical practice, and spread new knowledge to stakeholders.

Research Group
The research group led by Assistant Professor Kristiina Tammimies (http://ki.se/en/kind/kind-genomics). The research group is focused on understanding genetic and biological factors associated with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) such as autism spectrum disorder. We perform high-resolution genetic analyses in different NDD cohorts and characterize the findings using bioinformatics approaches and cellular models (such as patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells). We are conducting translational research by combining data from neuropsychology, neuropathology, neuroimaging and environmental factors with the genetic data to understand the biological mechanisms leading to NDDs.

Duties
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc with excellent knowledge of molecular biological techniques and interest in brain function and dysfunctions. The person will investigate the functional consequences of genetic findings using a variety of tools ranging from omics experiments, detailed characterization of the particular signaling pathways to genome editing. The successful applicant will join an interdisciplinary team at KIND with active collaboration with other national and international research groups.

The specific duties are:

- Techniques for molecular and cellular biology to test specific genetic mutations (molecular cloning, transfections, RNA and protein quantifications, immunofluorescence,)
- Analyzing genomic and RNA -sequencing data with focus on identifying downstream biological pathways

Qualifications
The applicant should hold a Ph.D. in genetics, molecular biology or related areas. Previous knowledge of cell culture, working with brain-related disorders and genomic data sets is needed. Experience in Python scripting is advantageous. The applicant must be able to work independently and possess excellent analytical skills. Good written and verbal communication skills in English are required. The applicant will be evaluated based on education and previous experience as well as personal suitability.

The postdoctoral project is planned first for one year with possibility for extension.

Entry requirements
A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc. The term can be extended under special circumstances.

Application process
An employment application must contain the following documents in English:

- A complete curriculum vitae, including date of the thesis defence, title of the thesis, previous academic positions, academic title, current position, academic distinctions, and committee work
- A complete list of publications
- A summary of current work (no more than one page)
- Verifications for crediting of illness, military service, work for labour unions or student organisations, parental leave or similar circumstances
The application is to be submitted through the MyNetwork recruitment system.
