About the position
There is an increased demand for vegetable fats and proteins for food and feed but also for industry applications. These need to be produced in a sustainable way.
The Department of Energy and Technology is looking for a postdoctoral researcher who will work in an interdisciplinary project that investigates the introduction, cultivation and processing of a new oil crop in Sweden. The postdoctoral researcher will analyze environmental sustainability through the entire chain from cultivation, processing and use of the products as well as different uses for the protein-rich press cake. The project is led by SLU but has partners at other universities, research institutes and several industrial partners who will work actively within the project.
Your profile
We are looking for a motivated person with specific expertise in life cycle assessment and environmental system analysis of agricultural systems and who enjoys working in interdisciplinary environments.
Qualification requirements
• Completed doctor's degree in environmental systems analysis, preferably in combination with food/bioenergy production.
• Advanced conceptual and analytical ability in relevant areas.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish/Nordic agricultural system.
• Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English.
Meritorious qualities
• Good knowledge of life cycle assessment.
• Good knowledge in crop cultivation.
• Good knowledge of Swedish/Norwegian or Danish.
• Experience working within interdisciplinary research projects with industry collaborations.
Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities such as ability to work independently, flexibility, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, curiosity and willingness to learn as well as good analytical skills.
The position is intended for a junior researcher and we are primarily looking for people who have completed their doctorate no more than three years ago.

At the Department of Energy and Technology, research and education are conducted focusing on how agriculture can contribute to a sustainable society. We have extensive expertise in technology and systems for sustainable production of food and bioenergy, including optimal nutrition circuits and logistics systems. Within the field of methodology, we have extensive competence in System Analysis including Environmental Systems Analysis and LCA, as well as Biometrics (statistics and mathematics with applications in biological systems) and Automation.
