The School of Science and Technology of is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in computer science for a fixed-term appointment.

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to be based at Örebro University's Centre for Applied Autonomous Sensor Systems (AASS, http://www.oru.se/aass), which carries out multi-disciplinary research at the intersection of robotics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer vision, computer science, and measurement technology. Our research in general is done in close partnership with world-leading corporations such as Volvo, Epiroc, Scania and Husqvarna, but also with the public sector; and our research on the development of perception systems for mobile robots is recognised world-wide.

Our aim with this new recruitment is to further strengthen our research competence within computer science, and in particular in topics related to robot perception and navigation in challenging environments, with a focus on advancing the theoretical and practical foundations that allow mobile robots to operate in an unconstrained, dynamic environment.

Duties and responsibilities
The candidate shall be engaged in both research and integration work. Hence, in addition to scientific publications, the candidate is expected to contribute significantly to successful project demonstrations. We therefore seek candidates with a strong expertise in system development, programming and use of current middleware for robotics e.g. ROS.

The candidate is expected to have a proven track record in Robotics and/or AI. We seek a postdoctoral researcher with exceptional programming, systems development and integration capabilities. Solid theoretical background in one or more of the topics stated above (localization, mapping, SLAM, robot control, motion planning, multi robot coordination) is required.

The position provides the opportunity to work on exciting and practically relevant problems alongside an ambitious international research team and in close cooperation with important industrial partners including Volvo, Epiroc, Scania and Husqvarna. The position is associated with the Nationally-funded Semantic Robots Research Profile (see http://semanticrobots.oru.se).

Eligibility
Eligible for the appointment as postdoctoral researcher are applicants holding a doctoral degree in computer science or in related subject areas. The doctoral degree should have been awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline. Candidates who have obtained their doctoral degree prior to that may however also be considered if special grounds exist (leave of absence due to illness, parental leave, clinical duties, an elected position in a trade union, or other similar circumstances).

Assessment criteria
The assessment of the candidates is based on previous research and publication records and the suitability to the topics outlined above, as well as demonstrated programming and deployment skills.

Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken, is a requirement.

Equality
Our ambition is to create a place of work that is characterised by gender equality and diversity. All genders are most welcome to apply.

Information
The position is a full-time position for a fixed term of 20 months. The salary depends on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.

For more information about the scientific aspects of this position, please contact Associate Professors Federico Pecora (federico.pecora@oru.se) and Henrik Andreasson (henrik.andreassson@oru.se).
