The Department of Laboratory Medicine consists of 7 divisions and is active in many areas of Laboratory Medicine. The department is involved in advanced basic scientific, clinical and epidemiological research. The department is one of the largest departments of education at Karolinska Institutet.



Division
The Division of Pathology is a part of the Department of Laboratory Medicine at Karolinska Institutet at the South Campus.

The Division comprises 6 major research groups all of which work in close collaboration with the Laboratory for Clinical Pathology and Cytology, Karolinska University Hospital. The major research themes involve cancer. We are currently looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher.

Duties
The postdoctoral researcher will be performing in-depth structured evaluations of Swedish national and regional HPV-based cervical cancer screening and HPV prophylactic vaccination programs, with a focus on incidence, risk factors and prevention methods. The postdoctoral researcher will also be investigating new diagnostic methods for cervical screening, and evidence-based approaches to evaluating such. Duties include project coordination of pharmaceutical industry projects, and require independence in advanced data management and qualified biostatistical analyses. Responsibilities include stringent data maintenance and program documentation. There will be opportunities for teaching.

Entry requirements
A person is eligible for this position, if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than four years before the last date of employment as postdoc. The term can be extended under special circumstances. The successful applicant should have a PhD within medical sciences focusing on epidemiology or biostatistics. The successful applicant must have documented advanced knowledge of epidemiological study designs, data management and biostatistics, as well as statistical softwares and programming languages such as SAS or Stata. The applicant should have extensive hands-on experience in using and interpreting longitudinal/population-based data and register data. The applicant also needs to have detailed knowledge of, and documented experience in, cervical screening and HPV vaccination. The candidate must furthermore possess an excellent good knowledge of spoken and written English. The above criteria are key requirements for the position.

Considered as advantages will also be previous experience in teaching or supervising students and oral presentations at congresses, as well as if the applicant has published in collaboration with official Swedish agencies.
