We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to boost our team, and to contribute to an ongoing project focused on understanding the importance of pollinators for agrifood systems. The core tasks are to use econometric methods to estimate the causes and consequences of reduced pollination services.
Duties
The environmental economics group -
https://www.slu.se/env-econ - is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to boost the research team. The successful applicant will be expected to develop their own research in the area of environmental and natural resource economics, and to contribute to an ongoing project. The project is part of a larger undertaking, VALues and dependece of society on pollinatORs (VALOR). The two project-related tasks are to estimate pollination-service production functions using structural techniques and highly detailed register data, and also to analyse societal drivers to pressures on pollinators. Note that the position as a postdoctoral researcher implies at least 80 percent research.
Qualifications
Successful applicants must have completed a PhD in economics, or be expecting to complete their PhD by August 2025. Applicants should normally have completed their PhD no more than three years before the application deadline. Candidates must have strong competence in structural econometrics, and a demonstrated interest in reduced-form econometrics. Knowledge and experience in the following three areas are advantageous but not essential: (i) working wit farm- and field-level data; (ii) working with geo-spatial data; (iii) environmental economics. The ability to work constructively in a small group is essential. Successful applicants are also expected to be self-motivated, driven and to be able to work independently on (some aspects of) the project.

At the Department of Economics, research and teaching are conducted in the subjects economics and business studies. The department has master's and bachelor programs in economics, and a PhD program. Priority areas in economics are 1) environment and natural resources and 2) agricultural economics.
