hela Sverige A postdoctoral position is available at Skåne University Hospital, Lund, Sweden, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, in the laboratory of MD PhD Johannes Ehinger (part of the Mitochondrial Medicine group, Lund University) for a qualified and motivated candidate to investigate mitochondrial hearing loss in a zebrafish model. Hearing loss is frequently present in patients with genetic mitochondrial disease.
WORK TASKS
This project will investigate how various forms of mitochondrial dysfunction affects hair cell function and hearing in zebrafish utilizing behavioral and electrophysiological methods as well as imaging and standard biomedical techniques, and the project includes development of the model. The research group is highly collaborative, and the postdoctoral researcher will also partake in some of the groups other research projects in mitochondrial physiology.
Skåne University Hospital is affiliated with Lund University and the postdoctoral fellow will primarily work in facilities at Lund University, Lund, Sweden. The postdoctoral is for a maximum of 2 years and will start with a 6-month probationary employment.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate holds a PhD in a relevant field and must be highly motivated, collaborative, organized and industrious. He or she must have solid laboratory research experience and a strong publication record. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience of in vivo modelling in zebrafish. Familiarity with bioinformatics or computational biology is advantageous, as are skills in imaging, bioenergetics, metabolomics or genetics. Excellent scientific communication skills in both written and spoken English are required.
