To Swedish Metabolomics Centre (SMC;
www.swedishmetabolomicscentre.se) in collaboration with the NovoNordisk Foundation Centre for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR;
https://cbmr.ku.dk/) we are now recruiting a postdoctoral scientist. SMC supports researchers active at Swedish universities with mass spectrometry based analysis of metabolites and lipids in biological tissues and fluids, and aims to be a leading knowledge center in metabolomics and related areas. At the platform, specialized personnel work and the platform has mass spectrometry equipment such as GC -TOFMS, LC-QTOFMS and LC-TQMSMS
Duties:
The research project aims to uncover the polar metabolome. Polar metabolites are usually not covered by traditional reversed phase LC-MS based metabolomics analysis. This is problematic as many polar metabolites important intermediates in e.g. glycolysis and TCA-cycle, or have also important functions in other parts of the metabolism. Within this project methods will be developed for covering the polar metabolome, both by developing untargeted and targeted methods, and applying the methods in ongoing biological projects, e.g. metabolic disease such as T2D, and probe the biochemical mechanisms supporting therapeutic resistance in cancer cells.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate should have a PhD degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry or in a related field. The candidate should have a strong interest in research and be capable of developing the project independently and creatively. Good knowledge in chromatography and mass spectrometry analysis is necessary. It is meriting with experiences in LC-MS based metabolomics and metabolite analysis, as well as analysis of analytical biochemical data.
As Postdoctoral appointments are career-developing positions for junior researchers, we are primarily looking for candidates with a doctoral degree that have received their PhD no later than three years ago.
