Lund University declares the following position open for application:
Postdoctoral position as researcher (‘forskare’), 2 years, in Innovation Studies, with a special focus on international comparative analyses of regional innovation systems, full time, placed at Centre for Innovation, Research and Competence in the Learning Economy (CIRCLE).

CIRCLE is an interdisciplinary research centre of excellence spanning several faculties at Lund University and Blekinge Institute of Technology largely funded by VINNOVA, the Swedish Research Council and the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission. CIRCLE has since its creation in July 2004 established itself as the leading national centre for research on R&D, innovation, entrepreneurship and economic dynamics and is today the largest of the four national research centres of excellence originally funded by VINNOVA from 2004.
In 2006 CIRCLE was awarded a 10 year Linnaeus grant for studies of ‘Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Knowledge Creation: Dynamics in Globalising Learning Economies’. In the autumn 2007 CIRCLE was co-located with Research Policy Institute and LUIS (Lund University Innovation System) at LUCIE (Lund University Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship), which represents a unique unit of research, teaching and the third mission.
CIRCLE is becoming one of the largest centres of its kind in Europe with more than 30 researchers. A detailed description of CIRCLE’s research programmes as well as the CIRCLE Annual Reports can be found at www.circle.lu.se.
Description of the research area
This position is within the research area of international comparative studies of regional innovation systems. The holder of the position will collaborate with professor Björn Asheim and his research group. The research should deal with international comparative analyses of regional innovation systems. Empirical focus could be on developed as well as developing economies and their situation in a globalizing learning economy.
The position and the tasks
The announced position is for full time employment at Lund University. This postdoctoral position as researcher is limited to two years. The initial employment is limited to one year, but can be prolonged to two years.
The tasks associated with this position are primarily research activities. The postdoctoral position as researcher announced entail research for 75 % of full time. For the rest of the time, the holder may attract external funding for additional research and/or teach – in English or Swedish – at CIRCLE or at other centres and departments at Lund University. (CIRCLE operates in English, and most courses offered by CIRCLE are also taught in English.)
