hela Sverige Postdoctoral Position: REM sleep disruption as an early indicator of synucleinopathies

We have an exciting opportunity for you to conduct independent cutting-edge work in state-of-the-art laboratories while teaming with other AstraZeneca scientists. You'll also be able to collaborate with a leading academic advisor who will provide further support and guidance. Additionally, we'll encourage you to attend and present at international scientific conferences and publish high-profile papers.
Your major responsibilities
• Exploring sleep disorders in neurodegenerative diseases, investigating the correlation between ?-synuclein accumulation and changes in REM sleep
• Measuring the electroencephalogram (EEG) and sleep in freely moving animals
• Collaborating closely with internal experts and external academic advisors
• Communicating novel findings to the scientific community at conferences and meetings
• Publishing scientific papers in high quality journals
Minimum experience
• A PhD-level education (or equivalent) in neurobiology, pharmacology or a related discipline
• The ability to work equally well as an individual or as part of a team
• A strong background in animal research with experience of in vivo electrophysiology, rodent surgery, different drug dosing paradigms, brain dissection and tissue preparation
• Experience of designing, running, and analyzing preclinical EEG and sleep experiments
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• The ability to independently design and execute informative experiments and interpret results
Preferred experience/requirements
• A strong passion for and commitment to science, plus a strong scientific track record
