Postdoctoral fellow in molecular microbiology with special emphasis on the role of flippases and Mon2 in yeast protein quality control
Beskrivning av arbetsuppgifter:
This project aims to decipher how yeast flippases and Mon2 impinge on protein quality control, with special emphasis on aggregation of misfolded proteins, transport of protein aggregates to protein quality control compartments in the cells, and the asymmetrical inheritance of aggregates during cell division. Further, the project will analyze how cellular aging is affecting the activity of flippases and how this, in turn, may influence the buildup of cytotoxic aggregates, including model disease proteins of human neurological disorders, during cellular aging. The postdoctoral project consists of research and supervision. The research entails in-depth biochemical analysis of yeast flippase functions and protein aggregation using also molecular, genetic, and imaging tools. The project will also include the construction of new yeast strains suitable for microscopic analysis of protein aggregation.
Beskrivning av kvalifikationer:
Eligibility: An achieved doctoral degree is compulsory for a position as postdoctor at Göteborg University. The doctoral thesis shall be in a relevant area according to the specific position stated here. Since a position as postdoctor aims to give new holders of the doctorate the opportunity mainly to strengthen and develop their scholarly proficiency, we aim for those who have a doctoral degree not older than 3 years counting from last date of application. The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. Assessment: We are looking for a scholar with well-documented merits in Flippase and Mon2 biochemistry. The successful applicant should have experience also in microscopy including analysis of protein aggregation. Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
