Our group is interested in how the normal gut microbiota affects host metabolism by combining clinical oriented and animal research.

Specific subject description
Establish a representative microbiota based in sequenced bacterial strains from human stool samples and evaluate their function in gnotobiotic mice.
Job assignments
Establish culture conditions for different anaerobic bacterial strains, colonization of germ-free mice, test the metabolic capacity of these bacteria using GC-MS based masspectrophotometry.
Eligibility
To qualify as a postdoctoral fellow you must have completed a Ph.D. in a subject area relevant for the position or you must have a foreign degree corresponding to a Ph.D. in a subject area relevant for the position. Preference will be given to candidates who have been awarded the degree no more than three years before the application deadline. Applicants with a degree earlier may be preferred if specific reasons exist. Such specific reasons may be a leave due to illness, parental leave or other similar circumstances.
Assessment
The successful candidate is expected to be at ease collaborating with other scientists within a larger team. Documented experience of anaerobic culturing of bacteria, microbial ecology, and animal experiment is expected. Experience in analyzing small metabolites by masspectrophotometry is advantageous.
