We are interested in understanding the mechanisms that govern the regulation of pattern recognition receptor signaling pathways and how the breakdown of such regulation influences the outcome of infectious or inflammatory diseases (
https://www.su.se/mbw/research/research-groups/molecular-cell-biology/group-gekara). Recently we have identified a number of new signaling molecules involved in the regulation of the innate immune system (e.g. Panda S, Nilsson JA, Gekara NO. Immunity. 2015 Oct 20;43(4):647-59; Härtlova A, et al., Immunity. 2015 Feb 17;42(2):332-43, Erttmann SF et al., Immunity. 2016 Jul 19;45(1):106-18, Nat Commun. 2018 Nov 7;9(1):4654). The goal of this project is to investigate their molecular mechanisms during infection and inflammation.
