The Krefting Research Centre brings together a broad approach into understanding the epidemiology and pathophysiology of asthma, with the short- and long-term goal to improve management of asthma patients in general. A major focus of the Centre is to increase the understanding of patients with different types of asthma, what is usually called "phenotypes of asthma". Current evidenceargues that asthma has different immune mechanisms in subgroups of asthma. Thus, a part of the research performed at Krefting focus on studying how the immune system drives characteristics of these phenotypes.
