Specifically, the project concerns advanced 3D-based growth methods in cancer including different cell types and with a focus on testing and validating new treatment strategies
Duties
Your workplace will be at the Sahlgrenska Center for Cancer Research at the University of Gothenburg close to the Sahlgrenska University Hospital. The center is part of a strategic research effort within Sahlgrenska Academy with a focus on basic and clinical research projects on cancer.A postdoctoral position is now advertised in Professor Göran Landberg's research group. The group works to develop new cancer drugs as well as diagnostic methods with a focus on the microenvironment of cancer cells. The projects include different types of forms of cancer and the work takes place in close collaboration with other academic groups, healthcare and industrial partners.Within the projects, you will work with clinical samples, experimental techniques, model systems and handling of experimental data. You will have a key position in the group and be responsible for several different methods as well as specific tasks within the various projects and you are expected to actively participate in seminars and interactions with partners.
Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for employing teaching staff are set out in Chapter 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and in the Appointment Procedure for Teaching Posts at the University of Gothenburg.
To be eligible for appointment as a postdoc, the applicant is required to have a doctoral degree, a doctoral degree in art or a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. This eligibility requirement must be met before the employment decision is made.
In the first instance, those who have completed their degree no more than three years prior to the end of the application period shall be considered. Those who have completed their degree more than three years prior to the end of the application period may also be considered in the first instance if special grounds exist. Special grounds relate to leave of absence due to illness, parental leave, commissions of trust within union organisations, service within the defence services or other similar circumstances, as well as clinical service or service/assignment relevant to the subject area.
Assessment criteria
We are looking for you who have a PhD in a relevant subject area and have extensive experience of working with experimental cancer research within the specified subject description. More specifically, we are looking for an ambitious and service-oriented team player with social and organizational skills. Experience in cell culture and molecular biology methods, especially methods linked to DNA, RNA and protein analyses, as well as microenvironmental aspects in cancer including different types of 3D-based growth systems are necessary for the position. Ability to work under pressure and in a group as well as good knowledge of English is important. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who combines technical expertise with good communication skills, who has a strong desire to help other researchers in their work, but also the motivation to work independently

Employment
The employment is full time and temporary, two years with the possibility of one year's extension, with placement at the Institute of Biomedicine. First day of employment as agreed.
